Michelle Burroughs, DHA, MPH
Dr. Michelle C. Burroughs served as HHN’s inaugural Healthcare Ambassador Chair for six years (2019–2025), during which she secured over $11,000 in grants and personal donations, served as a member of the Pressure Project, and led the Health Literacy Initiative.
Dr. Burroughs is the Director of Community Engagement and Outreach for the Center for Healthy Communities (CHC) at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine. With more than 20 years of experience in public health, she leads initiatives that advance community-partnered research, population health strategies, and culturally responsive outreach across Inland Southern California. Her work is grounded in addressing health disparities and advancing equity through education, collaboration, and trust-building.
She also serves as Faculty for Community Engagement and Partnerships with the Program in Medical Education (PRIME), supporting the development of physicians committed to serving African, Black, and Caribbean (ABC) communities.
A recognized master connector, Dr. Burroughs partners with public, private, and nonprofit sectors to co-create solutions to complex health and social challenges. She is deeply committed to amplifying culturally and linguistically responsive health messages to ensure communities are informed, empowered, and actively engaged.
